Staff at sites other than Mildura – Remote access to the Remote Desktop Farm (RDFarm2)
Using your PERSONAL MacOS device.
Before following these instructions, you will need to first install an app from the Mac App Store.
Open the App Store, and search for Microsoft Remote Desktop 10. Or follow this link: https://apps.apple.com/app/microsoft-remote-desktop/id1295203466?mt=12
Install this app, and once finished, run it.
- Click this link -> https://rdfarm2.madec.edu.au/RDWeb/
- Enter your MADEC login username in the following format: madec\username
- Ensure the slash between madec and your username is pointing the right direction. Generally, it is the key above the Enter key on your keyboard.
- Enter your MADEC login password
- Click Sign in
- Click on the object named RDFarm2. If using Safari web browser, this will automatically download the connection object to your Downloads folder.
- Open Finder and navigate to your Downloads Folder.
- Find the file named cpub-RDFarm2-RDFarm2-CmsRdsh.rdp
- If you wish, you may rename this file by right-clicking it and selecting Rename. RDFarm2.rdp is enough.
- Double-click on RDFarm2.rdp
- You may receive a warning asking you to trust the publisher. Check the box for “Don’t ask me again for connections from this publisher” and click Connect.
- In the User name field, type your MADEC login username in the following format: madec\username
- Ensure the slash between MADEC and your username is pointing the right way. Generally it is the key above the enter key on your keyboard.
- In the Password field, enter your MADEC login password. Then Click OK.
- You may receive a certificate error, click “Continue”
- You should now have an established connection to the RDFarm.
- When you are finished for the session, please ensure you “Log Off” or “Sign Out” through the start menu. If you see an option to Shut Down, please DO NOT select this.
- Next time you wish to log in remotely, start at Step 8. There is no need to download this file each time.
Please note, the user experience will be close to normal, however it is very dependent on both your internet connection, and how congested the link to head office is. Please be patient, and be aware you may experience periods of ‘lag’ from time to time.
